Standard Analysis Environment
Specific tools, referred to as Science Tools in GLAST parlance,
have been developed
for analyzing the LAT data, as made necessary by
the scarcity of photons and the
broad PSF at low energy. A general presentation is given here (
pdf , html
) and more information can be found
here
. The analysis workhorse is the Likelihood tool developed by Jim Chiang
(see
here
for Jim's excellent tutorial).
The
instructions for installing the Science Tools are given in
the
User Workbook
.
On the simulation side, the package obsim allows one to model
AGN-like sources by means of the SpectralTransient class. This
class takes into
account any input light curve and the redshift-dependent
spectral cutoff due to absorption by the Extragalactic
Background Light.
High-level simulations
Results of recent simulations concerning
AGN studies with GLAST will be posted here.
