Group tasks
The Group tasks defined by Peter Michelson are given
here
.
The important responsibilities of the Group as stated in the
GLAST Publication Plan
(LAT-MD-04734-01) are:
"Analysis of spectra and time variability of LAT-detected blazars and
other
types of AGNs;
modeling of spectra (e.g. SSC model) including effects of EBL;
study evolution with redshift".
An important assignment is to prepare the data analysis
constituting
the basis for the different collaboration papers to be published
over the
lifetime of the instrument.
A list of anticipated papers is given in Table 3 of the
GLAST Publication Plan (this list should be considered in the
light
of the
GLAST data policy ). An excerpt is reproduced below. Category I and
II papers
are defined in Table 1 of
the
GLAST Publication Plan
.

Other papers, on strongly flaring blazars for example, can be proposed
by the Group.
As mentioned in Section 6 of the GLAST Publication Plan ,
in-depth analyses of selected sources were also proposed as part of
the Flight Proposal science investigation. The list of these selected
sources is given in Table 2.1.6 of
Flight Proposal.
More specifically, important tasks of the Group include:
- develop a plan for the Group's activity (what, when, who);
- identify the tools and methods needed to perform the AGN-specific
data analysis,
and develop them if necessary;
- review the above list of potential papers and update it;
- define the interfaces with the other science Groups;
- produce a set of relevant figures illustrating the capability of the
instrument
in this field;
- gather the information needed to ensure proper identification of the
high
galactic latitude sources.
- prepare the multiwavelength programs in coordination with the
dedicated
Group.
